Tenerife - Candalaria & Masca
Candalaria is this beautiful town with a small ledgend attached - a ledgend bringing together both Catholocism and tradional Gaunche (aboriginal canarians) lifestyles together... The odd thing of course is the black madonna and jesus.
The statues of the gauches are incredible and line the small spanish town by the square and church. Theres a small black sanded beach but we chose rather to swim in los Gigantes.
Here are also some images of Masca - a tiny little village in the mountains, previously inacessable by car as it had no road to it! The villagers would trek 3 hrs to their farmlands or coast and back again to tend crops or fish. Historically it was a pirate lookout! Masca now has an engineering feat of a road which winds almost impossibly towards it!
