Places I Have Visited ...
Being over here in the UK opens up so many doors to other places that I could
not travel to from South Africa - I mean imagine popping off to Paris for a
weekend from SA! It would take you longer than a weekend just to get there ...
Here are some of the places that I have visited (in no particular order)
- Tenerife - We went there with 2 aims - to find my long lost aunt Norma Burnett and to go scuba dive... Well we didn't find my aunt but we did find the most gorgeous geography and lovely fishies... it was hot but we spent most of the time driving around through the clouds or swimming in strange lava formations or seeing rays (including a rare sighting of a manta ray). I would definately visit again if only for el Mason's food and the diving!
- Zurich - Well Zurich is a truely beautiful city and I had a wonderful
time staying at Residance Decidance with Tim and flatmates - went all over
and saw loads of wierd benches ... Thanks Tim for a great time had by myself!
Oh and funnily enough - I bumped into a Slimelight friend there (hi Mat n
Eva!!!) I even managed to swim in the lake when I got a wee bit hot whilst
peddeling to the floaty fountain thing!
- Whitby Goth Festival 8.1 - Went to the April 2001 WGW festival and
had a great time ... definately going to go again!
- Chicago ... 5 - 13 Jan 2001 ... wow what friendly people there are
out there - thanks to all those who stayed out late and showed me around ...
went there with the intention of clubbing and ended up doing so much more
(including flying in a light aircraft and getting a tattoo, clubbing, going
to a play and being abducted by the black pork choppers!) long story - either
way thanks to those yanks that made my stay wonderful! Judith, Mark, Tarik
and Tim - hope to see you all soon!
- Whitby Goth Festival 7.5 ... Whitby is a little town in Yorkshire
which is where Dracula landed in the UK. It has a beautiful ruined Abbey and
graveyard which is falling into the sea ... More in my photo journal abotu
Whitby
- Mera Luna Festival, Hildesheim, Germany ... Went to Germany to a
goth festival in Hildesheim, Germany and had a great time - apart from the
god-awful heat (I mean who has a goth festival in a German summer - all that
velvet and all those wilting goths!) Germany was great and I had a great time
... would like to do more festivals in Germany! Twas fun (and yet again -
there are photo's in my photo journal!)
- Val D'Isere... Went their skiing in Jan 2000 - a great place to go
- our chef was great and skiing was fantastic - blue skies and cosy nights
- definately recommended.
- Paris .... I love Paris - I love walking down the Champs Eleysees
(could never spell it properly) or going up the Tour de Eiffel and drinking
wine and eating food in the Latin Quartier...
- Munich Oktoberfest ... 5 days of solid beer drinking, dancing on
the tables, meeting people and letting my hair down - what a great place to
be ... try it if you can ... but be warned there are soooooo many people there
and so much beer to drink
- Amsterdam ... the red light district is not as shocking as one would
believe .. the people all ride around on bikes and that is pretty scary and
the canals are stunning - just watch out for the pick-pockets in the Central
Station.
- Skiing in Andorra ... wow ... I love snow and I love skiing cant
wait till I go again ...
- Scotland ... the land of ruggard hills, stunning scenery, the Loch
Ness monster and golf! Edinburgh, the castle - the William Wallace memorial
in Stirling, the beauty of the drive from Inverness to the Isle of Skye -
need I say more ... Scotland is the land of my heart! ....
and so the list goes on - I will update this as I travel further afield ...
